A day exploring the wilds of Donegal. Drove through the countryside to get to Slieve League. Very different countryside but spectacular too. Visited Kilcar along the way and watched the weaving. Bought a blanket.

Amazing cliffs

Visited Yeats' grave along the way and would've voted his heritage centre in Sligo but it was closed.

Had some trouble with visiting sites today. Places seem to be closed on a Monday. Bummer when you drive a long way out of your way to get somewhere!

Decided we wouldn't travel all the way to Cong and stopped in at Knock. I knew I knew it for some reason & the realised its a place where there was an apparition of Mary so it's a place of religious pilgrimage. An enormous shrine and basilica are in the middle of the town. With the size of the place and the car park it's clear that this get very crowded at times. All the shops are packed religious items, many that even glow in the dark. I had no idea there were so many saints. They tell stories including a saint and laugh at their joke about a particular saint's suitability for a particular person, of course expecting everyone would know.
