Sihanoukville to Klong Yai, Thailand
With very full bellies we left Sea View Villa and thanked our hosts graciously. We hired a car to take us to the border town of Krong Koh Kong 300km away and not much to see or accommodation options if we chose to cycle.

The bikes were tied on to the back in typical Cambodian style. See the pictures! And the five of us squished into the back as the two drivers picked up a mate to squish into the front with them to make the return trip more exciting for them. We paid $90 USD for the big taxi and we arrived at the border after a 5 hour long car trip. That morning we had decided to cross over and had read about one place to stay 30km the other side of the border.

It was 4pm by the time we got to the border and we were a little anxious at how quickly we could clear through passport control and if we would find our destination before sunset. It seemed from the Internet and other people's blogs that there wasn’t too much in Hat Lek or close to the border in Thailand. For this very reason we will write and say that we passed plenty of guest houses, homestays and big hotels after we crossed the border. Just past the town of Ban Bangin (and you can imagine all the jokes we shared about the hotel there) as the sunset we decided not to rely on google maps alone which told us the place we wanted to stay in was only another 10km away, ChunChung Resort or something like that. We rode past a brand new hotel with nice bungalows and decided it was a great place to stop for the night. We paid 1500 baht ($50USD) for 3 rooms with aircon and tv. The food at the hotel was brilliant and we were glad to have stopped in such a great place. YUM THAI FOOD Pad THAI and fried cashews mmmmmm!

This now made the next day a slightly easier day because we had 30km less to cover and we had cleared the border which would have meant we couldn’t start until 7am.

Hope you’re all enjoying the Christmas rest.

Two countries conquered with great confidence. Well done.
Great to hear that the fun continues and that Christmas treated everyone well. I'll bet Father Christmas was confused since I think you outpaced the reindeers. Christmas weekend in Perth was enjoyable, but hot, and we Sucklings missed Amy.
We really enjoy reading the news, and look forward to the next edition of wit and pictures.
Continue to travel safe and happy.
