We had to get up around 8 this morning to take a cab back to the international ferry terminal and return to Fukuoka. The ferry ride home was as comfy as the ride there and went by in no time. From there we decided to get some dinner- we wanted to try the famous Hakata Ramen we had heard and read about and managed to find a place fairly easily by wandering. Yum! It is a light and almost creamy broth and delicious thin noodles- try it! It was another nice day and so we headed to Ohori Koen (Ohori Park) which we read was a can't-miss in Fukuoka. The park was beautiful and featured picturesque bridges and gazebos with a giant lake in the middle. First we rented a small canoe and spent 30 minutes rowing (well Chris sent 30 minutes rowing) around the lake and enjoying the sun and views. Once the flies started to get to us we deboarded our canoe and took a long walk around the perimeter of the park to see the Japanese Gardens but they were closed. We did get to see the ruins of an old abandoned castle nearby which was cool. After this we spent some time shopping around before getting our luggage from the lockers where we left it and taking a cab back to the airport to go home. Back in Tokyo we had dinner at Clabar with Tame-san- of course!
