This morning we awoke early to embark on a 6 hour guided tour of Prague by Prague Walks. This de Lux tour is about $50 US per person including the six hour tour, a boat ride, a Czech lunch, and free passes to the National Gallery and the company's nightly Ghost Tour as well. We had a private tour and our guide walked us through the town square, the Jewish Quarter, the "John Lennon wall" of graffiti art and tributes, to the riverboat cruise where they gave us beers and traditional fig cakes, and then to lunch. We each chose a different Czech dish for lunch including schnitzel (only kinda Czech), roast pork with dumplings, and goulash. We also got some soup and a little dessert and a beer. After lunch the tour concluded with a walk across the famous Charles Bridge and a visit to the Royal Gardens, into the Castle Cathedral, and to the Prague Castle. By the time we were done we were too exhausted to take advantage of our free National Gallery passes and took a nap. Later on we headed out to try to find an inexpensive Café for dinner outside the tourist area. We couldn't stomach another heavy Czech meal but the spaghetti we ordered was awful and tasted like buttered noodles with a glop of tomato paste on top. Jay put it best when he said "I think in Italy we should try to get some Czech food too". After dinner we returned to our hotel jazz club and enjoyed a great set from the band there (and met a very strange Scottish chap), checked out the little music club next door as well (which was dead), and finished the night at the riverside terrace we visited on Thursday. As we arrived back at the hotel, the funny guy who works the desk every night let us in with his shirt off and a strange girl behind the counter as usual!
