After an afternoon relaxing outside it was time to depart for our sunset cruise this afternoon around 2:30. We were picked up by a transfer who took us to the dock where our boat was waiting. We sailed with just 4 other couples, considered a semi-private cruise, and the weather was perfect. The seas were very calm and there was almost no wind, but it wasn't too hot. We started out sailing among huge volcanic cliffs that were red, white, and black and jutted straight out from the sea. We sailed by the red sand beach and the black sand beach, and then to a spot for swimming that is not accessible by land. After a little swimming and snorkeling off the back of the boar in the warm waters we continued on, sipping glasses of white Santorini wine as we approached our second stop at the warm sulfur springs swimming spot. I elected not to swim this time since I was wearing a white bathing suit and was warned that the springs would permanently dye it yellow. Chris gave it a try though. After that we continued to head for the ideal sunset watching spot as our two crewmember prepared a nice late lunch for us: fresh grilled prawn, calamari, marinated pork and chicken on the grill as well as a feta tomato and pasta salad and some delicious fava bean dip with pita. They cooked it right on a little hibachi grill and it was one of the best and freshest tasting meals we’ve had on the island! After that came the spectacular sunset, we took plenty of pictures of that. The cruise flew by and before we knew it were had to go pack to port. We had a lot of fun with the other couples too, all of whom happened to also live in New York City and were honeymooners as well, with the exception of one couple named Renee and Brian who were from South Africa. After the cruise we joined Renee and Brian for a drink down by the water before catching a cab back to our hotel area and agreeing to meet up with them at Ginger, Santorini’s new sushi lounge, for a later dinner. We met up at Ginger around 10 and had a nice meal and some more wine before heading to bed. The cruise was absolutely beautiful and highly recommended!
