In my element......gorgeous drive to vegas from LA, dunno why peeps say it's flat 'n boring & nothing but desert? Beautiful undulating countryside, joshua trees, changing colours.....interesting times when we got here; Viv was needing to expel the 2 large coffee's we'd had (only her own, not mine) and jumped out of the car while we were stuck on Las Vegas Blvd in traffic - while she was inside Macca's the traffic moved, and so did I - to where I knew not, as Viv knew where the hotel was......so, I did a blockie like any smart aussie woman and stopped to ask people, and 15 minutes later pulled up outside our hotel, where Viv was in thongs 'n t-shirt waiting. It was about 14 c but she had faith in me. After settling in to our room we went walking, along the way picking up an eiffel tower of cocktail each which neither of us could finish that night.
BTW internet is expensive at 35c a minute here so I've got about 2 mins left......
All's well & what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.....picking up another Mustang tomorrow, for the run out to Hoover Dam & Red Rock Canyon.
On the 4th floor of this hotel is a massive showroom of vintage cars - most are for sale....wow! So today we spent an hour or so drooling...The Shelby's MINE!!!!! Or the Olds......or the Corvette....definately the Jag.
On the 5th floor is the Wedding Chapel; I'll check that out too at some stage.
We also went to the Secret Garden at The Mirage to see their dolphins and big cats; they have twin striped white tiger cubs OMG!! so cute....we watched them be patted, fed and after their feed they played with their fit ball, hopped in the pool and sat in a small tub, just like the smaller variety of pusses.
In the breeding pool were 3 generations of female dolphins; the main pool held the males and is complete with coral garden, sand etc
Tonight we took the bus to the old part of Vegas, Fremont St & had a ball, both there and on the bus. We saw 2 light shows on the roof at Fremont St - when the show's on everything else goes dark and it's just spectacular. We saw Doors & Queen tributes, and a girl get momentarily stuck out on the flying fox. There was no malfunction though, she just didn't get off quick enough and slid back out!
Austin Powers, Elvis, & Predator were roaming the street, and there was a really good live rock band playing.
We shall drive to Hoover Dam tomorrow with the top down, come what may.
