The next day we headed out to catch Mike's Bike Tour of the city, but managed to get lost and miss the start time. It was raining, so we headed to the Deutches Museum. This place was packed! but really cool. We saw and took pictures of lots of airplanes, an exhibit about space, boats, the first German U-Boat (U1) and other cool things. Then we took a rainy walk through the town square, went up a tower to see the views, did some shopping and went to the Hofbrauhaus. The Hoftbrauhaus was pretty cool - it is a huge indoor beer garden. It was filled with tourists, but we got a great table where we could see a lot of what was going on. A band was playing, the food was good and beer came in huge 1 L mugs!
The second day, Andrew went to Dachau in the morning and I went to The art gallery
The Art Gallery in Munich is actually 3 galleries Pinakothek Moderne (2oth century art) Pinakothek Neue (18th and 19th centuries) and the original Pinakothek (about Pre-1700 paintings, some which it has owned since it was built in about 1750 - it's amazing)
Later in the day, we did go on Mike's Bike Tour. I had a fantastic aqua bike with white flowers and a basket! Fun! It was pretty easy to bike in Munich - there are lots of bike lanes, although a few times we had to dodge some wild pedestrians. We saw the Old town Square, the Residenz (palace), the beautiful park, Englischer Garten, (including surfers!) where we stopped to eat at a beer garden with our group. It was very fun.
After the tour was over, we went for a walk through Viktualienmarkt - Munich's outdoor food market.
