But the story I would like to share with you is this. You remember I told you Dale was furious that he never saw a bear at Lake Tahoe, well he was determined to see one and bears were common in Yosemite. On our first day there a bear ran across the road in front of us but we only managed to see its bum as it jumped into the woods. A few days passed and we didn't see any other bears so on out last day there we went on a bear hunt. We saw a couple pulled up at the side of the woods looking for something and they told us they had seen a bear
. So we decided to walk along a path that ran right along the side of a river and hoped that we might get a glimpse of a bear. We walked for about 30 minutes and saw nothing, we decided to turn back and get the car. As we started to walk back a bear steps out of the woods and onto the path right in front of us!!! Dale is shouting for the camera to take a picture whilst my heart is going at a 1000 beats a minute. Then Dale tells me "Oh look Jenny, it's got a baby with it", that was it, I was out of there!! I started to back off up the path away from the bear whilst Dale is standing trying to get a picture. He eventually comes back to get me and advises that we can "sneak pass them". I said "Sneak past them, Dale it's a big black bear, not a bloody squirral for god sake". We were actually having an argument whilst there were black bears standing beside us - so typical. So naturally I stormed off, leaving Dale standing watching them. Eventually Dale comes running up and tells me there is actually another bear - mommy, daddy and baby and that he thinks we should get out of here! Finally!!! So very briskly walk along to the end of the path and eventually out onto the road where we both breath a sign of relief!
A very terrifying but amazing experience.
This place was awesome, this was our favourite place in California so far. We had heard so many good things about this place that we thought we would be disappointed - no way, it is breathtaking! We had 4 nights here and spent the whole time swimming in the river, fishing, walking and sightseeing. We could of spent so much longer here, neither of us wanted to leave.
