Heading to Melbourne after Adelaide we chose to take the coastal route.  We passed through loads of national parks and free camped in the parks for a few nights before reaching Mount Gambier.

Mount Gambier has loads of volcanic craters, crater lakes and sink holes so sounded like an interesting place to stop.  We did a bit of a walk to the Blue Lake and various other craters and then visted a nature reserve where we saw loads of kangeroos and wallabies.

We had heard that one of the sinkholes (a collapsed cave basically) had loads of possums that gave out looking for food at night, so we hung around for that.  Never did we expect to see such friendly possums that were practically jumping on you looking for food.  There were loads of them and we were able to hand feed them with fruit.  Was a really cool experience.

As we had stayed so late it was now completely pitch black outside and we had nowhere to stay.  We ended up driving for hours trying to find a rest area to stay in.  Eventually we found one about 2 hours later and crashed out for the night.
