So I wasn't in Guatemala for long. I met the group I am travelling with and they are all really great so I am having an awesome time.
I hiked up an active volcano close to Antigua. We couldn't go all the way because it was going to erupt quite soon although I don't think it would be a big eruption as we were very close to the top. We were walking inches away from hot lava at one point which was a little scary but it was amazing.
We had a salsa dancing lesson which was a lot of fun but very tiring and I tried the typical Guatemalan dish called Guate Gallo Pinto, or something like that. It was basically black beans, rice, jalapenos and cilantro with guacamole and tortillas. It was delicious.
I finally felt some rain in Antigua, which I actually quite enjoyed.
We have now moved onto Honduras, which is a gorgeous country. We stopped at Copan for a night, which was just the right amount of time to see the Mayan ruins there and the small town. I also ate a typical Honduran steak which was nice. It came with rice, avocado, plantain, fried onion, refried beans (which didn't look so good) and some really gross cheese, which i couldn't eat.
It is very hot here and also humid which is a little uncomfortable but I mustn't complain! Also we had a cockroach in our bathroom, which I will complain about a little because it was huge.
Anyway I will add another entry when I am in Roatan on the Bay Islands which I am really looking forward to.
