11-May/12-May:  The Flight

We made it to Copenhagen and the flights were great.  I must say that flying thru Newark was an experience.  Once we landed, we had to change terminals so that meant that we were forced to go thru security again.  This was the second time (Hartsfield was the first) so I began to quickly appreciate Atlanta for the ability to change terminals without going thru security.  The lines were really long however they went fast.  When we arrived at our departing gate, it was total chaos.  Three large 757's were being boarded for international flights all at the same time and the doors to the gates were next to each other so there was no line but a big mob.

On the flight to Copenhagen, we met a very nice Canadian Greek girl who was flying to see her German Greek fiancé who lives in Copenhagen.  Later in July they will be flying to Thessalonica, Greece where they will get married.  When we come back to Copenhagen, we hope to get in touch with her so we can be shown the sites. You meet so many interesting people when you travel!

Now, when we landed, our Oslo flight was not on the departure board so we started to go thru passport control and stopped when we were told we need to go to connecting flights.  We followed the signs and guess what happened? We had to go thru security "again".  Going thru the routine once more, we went to get information on our flight and we were pointed to passport control. We are waiting for the Oslo gate to be assigned now.

The airport seems to be a very quiet place.  Most people walk and speak very softly. At times it can be deafening.

Well, Julia had her first real Danish and it was very good.

12-May: Norway: Oslo to Bergen

We arrived in Oslo airport just in time to take the next local train to the city. We wanted to get tickets to the early train to Bergen but we soon found out that it does not run on Saturday.  All that rushing for nothing so we took the 4:30pm train. It put us in Bergen around 10:30pm.

The train ride to Bergen is beautiful.  Except for the guy next to us talking loudly the entire way (except when he left for a smoke), it has been wonderful.  Note:  The guy talking is not Norwegian as they are generally very quiet. This one spoke in Arabic, French, German, and Spanish....7 long hours of this... As we got deeper into Norway we saw more snow and frozen lakes.  By the time we hit Gol, everything was frozen and there was snow everywhere with rocky patches.   Further along the line in Fince, the snow was very deep and plentiful.  People were skiing and we were obviously under dressed.   The pictures do not do this place justice.  We arrived in Bergen at 10:35pm Norway time which means we were traveling for over 24 hours (approx 32 hours).  BTW, it was not quite dark yet.

Well we hope you enjoy the pictures and see you soon.
