Brazilīs self proclaimed capital of Reggae music is Sao Louis... a cool colonial town where all the buildings are covered in Portuguese tiles, supposedly to combat the heat. I arrived with my buddy Boris after a miserable, overpriced, 14 hour bus ride over the worst road Iīve ever been on. I didnīt know you could even take a bus on a road like this. And when the road was not a pothole infested mess of moon sized craters, you know what they put on the smooth pavement that still remained????? Speed Bumps! Sleep was something we only talked about on this overnight journey of hell.
The best part about this place is simply all the live music on the street in the evening and wandering around to see what you can find. One of our unique discoveries was the Farmacia de Casacha ... a small store where this guy sells 150 different varieties of an almost undrinkable firewater ... business was booming! I met a lot of cool people here, especially other travelers that I should see along my way going south... thatīs really all from this place. Letīs go to the beach.....
