Somethings never change. Bangkok and in particular, the Kho San Road hasn't changed an awful lot since i was last here - i even recognise some of the street traders!

So, we arrived at at 8am local time on the 25th.... I always hate flying to Asia, not because i don't like the place, but becasue of the jet lag i incur flying that way round the world! So, after a stop over of an hour in Abu Dhabi, Sarah and i caught the final leg of our journey to Bangkok. Predictably, there was a huge que at the immigration desk, mauinly of fat western men who headed straight to their type of area. Cab prices have increased slightly in the last 2 years - 400b to the centre - sorry, how dull am i? So, after a siesta which knocked us for 6, we went out for some street food and a massage, both of which were good. 9pm rolled around and i insisted on heading back to my old 9pm meeting point with the lads - same little lad still runs it! So, after walking down memory lane for a bit and raising a topast to absent friends, S and i went on a mini bar crawl and it was only a matter of time before we hit the sang sung - a bit like seeing an old friend after a 'long time' Before too long, we started chatting with a group of people and we all ended out on the lash together, 1 lad and 2 girls.... guess whose name i remembered from the start, yes, the lads! The 2 girls told me their names but within seconds i forgot them.... I think i was reminded about 6 or 7 times of their names before it actually sunk in.... and the reason? 'Jeff, remember what my name is?' 'er, no. haven't got a clue' Reply was 'poojah' 'Hang on, poo jar, as in a jar in which you store poo'? This didn't go down too well but at least it was a way of remembering it!

Hazy night ensured and saw us getting home at 6am!

one more night in bangkok before we head to Laos for a brief spell...... Ended up in Patpong and saw a show involving pingpong balls where i had to return the serve with a minging bat!

So, Laos is stop no 2, 18 hours on a bus as flying will eat into the budget a bit.

lad sat next to us in a bar just off the Ko San

and the Isralies are (mostly) rude, D
