Well, one week to go. Shots are done (well, most of the shots are done), everything is in storage, my backpack is packed, sooo ready to go....anticipation of something great and profound is a real killer. but soon enough. ive decided to abandon my plans to do Annapurna first and then everest, and to just focus on everest, due to the increased rebel violence in the country, specifically in that region. I still want to do a portion of annapurna after everest, but i want to focus and use my pre-monsoon time the wisest.
there are a ton of great treks up there from what im reading, and other than the cost of flying there ($200 from Kathmandu) it sounds awesome...the scenery is supposed to be some of the most marvelous in the world, the sherpa people are supposed to be great, sounds like a nice chill place to spend a month. So thats the only concrete plan that I have at this point, to get to Kathmandu, and get out asap to start trekking. Spend a month or so up in the Solu-Khumbu (everest), trek Gyoko Lakes/base camp/kala platter, check out the buddhist monestaries in the mountains, chill out in the sherpa capital of Namchee Bazaar, enjoy not having any cars or roads for miles and miles and miles...just sit back and take in life. gain some new perspectives hopefully...see whats really important. thats all for now...will check in again before I leave!
