Where I stayed
Sept 3rd started with a wild idea. Marie suggested stopping in Red Lodge and Jeff felt that it would be just as easy to drive through Yellowstone as it would be to go around on I-90. So we called Yellowstone National Park and managed to reserve rooms in the park on the 3rd and the 4th. Not bad for a holiday weekend.
With the place to sleep taken care of, we visited the Museum of the Rockies. The Museum of the Rockies has a world class exhibit on the fossils and dinosaurs who once roamed Montana.
The pictures with this entry tell the story of the places we visited in the park better than words can.
September 3rd
Hotel: Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel
Dinner: Bad burgers at the lodge
September 4th
Hotel: Roosevelt Lodge Cabins. The next morning the lodge closed for the season-time to head east before the snow flies.
Dinner: We had a really good dinner at the lodge, but the dining room was understaffed, so service was slow. Breakfast the next morning was equally slow, but we think the staff "end of season" party was the cause in that case.
