On the 19th Wednesday we left Kaikora to carry on our journey to the North of the South island. We drove along the coast and Jeff  noticed some furry seals, so we stopped at Ohau point seal colony and there they where hundreds of New Zealand Fur Seals laying on the rocks and playing in the water :)

As we drove along we soon realised the scenery is not the same in the north of the south island and the weather became rainy! To cheer ourselves up we put on the Beach Boys album and had a good sing along.  Lynds was driving today as Jeff slept funny and hurt his neck so he was feeling sorry for himself.

We drove through Blenheim this is a wine lovers dream there was vineyard after vineyard. We bought a bottle for the people we were visiting tonight.  After 4 hours drive we arrived in Nelson, we had a walk around the town and then headed to our campsite. Later that evening we set off to Andrew, Caralines and Sollys house for those of you who don't know who they are they are Sally’s ( dads wife) brother and wife and baby boy, they emigrated to New Zealand in Decembers 2009. We had a nice evening just chatting, drinking beer and finding out about their new lives. We left at around 10pm as we had an early start. Thank you for a nice evening.

The next morning we was woken by the alarm at 6am as we needed to drive 1hr 45mins to the ferryport in Picton we boarded the ferry at 9.30am and we arrived in Wellington at 13.05 the most beautiful ferry journey we have ever been on. We even saw a pod of dolphins playing.

We had a couple of hours in Wellington and looked around the City but to be honest not allot to see. We decided to carry on after buying some supplies. We drove for 5 hours and decided to stop at Wanganui, this has been the best campsite of all. The showers where amazing, they all had there own individual heated towel rail and heated lights above your head, sounds like small things but when you are camping these are fantastic! We ended the evening with pasta, beer and a movie.

Today we continued with our travels passing thru Ohakune visiting the Waitomo caves where we had a look around and a coffee. Driving through Hamilton we ended the day in Manukau just outside Auckland….

That’s all for now
