Hartley's Crocodile adventures
Today we went to Hartley's Crocodile adventures
The first thing we saw was Charlie the Crocodile and off-course we had to make a picture of this, the second picture as one relative wasn't enough we saw was Jeffrey the cow...this cow was born only with 3 legs ;-)....
Our boat-trip was at 13:00, so we had some time to look at some other animals..and the first ones where Koala's...did you know that Koala's sleep almost 20 hours a day and that there food is toxic?? We didn't but it is fun to learn something....after having a coffee we wandered around the boats and saw some birds (Black necked Stork otherwise known as Policemenbirds) .... + there was a big Croc...no not a real one...this one which Lynds sat on measures 7.6 meters in length, seems a little bit big but the biggest one shot in the 60's was 8.4 meters in length.....
Heading towards the boats we were anxious to see the crocodiles...the biggest croc they have is 5.2 meters long and is called Ted ...the tour guide told a lot about were the crocs can be found so we know were we can't CAMP for the night :-) .... after seeing some crocs it was feeding time which was very spectacular...first I thought why is there glass and iron between us and the water but as soon a he started feeding the croc it became clear that they come out of the water a lot further than that you can imagine...REALLY COOL...
Finishing the boat-trip we headed to the crocfarm were they bread crocodiles they have over 3,000 crocs on the farm and have to be 3 years old before there meat or skin can be used...and i must say the meat is really tasteful..tastes like chicken combined with tasty beef..
After the tour it there was a snake show...which was handy because he explained what to do when you get bitten by one (Lynds paid attention I hope!!)...and that a male between 18 and 30 who drinks is has the highest change of being bitten...LUCKY ME ;-)
When the show ended we went for some lunch...a Barramundi-Burger for Lynds and a Crocodile-wrap for me....
And at 15:00 the show started were we where waiting for..the Croc-Attack show...introducing the crocodile named Bart he started explaining about crocodiles and that you may never underestimate them...they live on this planet for over more than 65 million years...We saw some spectacular feeding and we were showed the death-roll...this was really nice and sometimes even scary because you cant see the croc in the water but you know it is there...
Heading into the park after the croc show we saw some wallabees which Lyndsey even stroked, Lizards, Snakes and a big black bird which was Lyndsey's favourite (not) ....
16:30 Koala feeding...Lynds was waiting for this the whole day (and the battery died :-( oops Jeff) but some clever people said use your phone so we did :-)
The best thing about Hartley's is you are so close to all the animals, great experience!
Cheers for now Lynds and Jeff

Wow
Well if we could choose we definitely go for the koala and the wallabee
Really nice pictures.
I see that the wallabees are really small, can you smuggle one to holland when you come back.
It will make a great playpall for Bikkel.
We like to read all your stories and look at the photo's
Thanks for keeping us posted.
Over here today it is very cold and we had a lot of hail so enjoy your warm Aussie weather.
