Where I stayed
Ocala RV Resort
Bright and early Tuesday morning we were picked up by T.P. (Tom Paul, Kim's housemate) and Kim so that we could accompany them to Kim's physical therapy appointment in Gainesville. We were unprepared for the extensive tour of the area between Gainesville and Ocala that we would receive after Kim's therapy session. T.P. and Kim had apparently been planning for our visit.
Kim's PT is at Shand's Medical Center on The University of Florida campus. Because the U. of F. is home to the Florida Gators, intercollegiate sports teams, and sports is huge on this campus, the PT area of the hospital is a huge complex. There had to have been 30 therapy beds, endless amounts of equipment, a therapy pool and loads of PT patients, many of whom were students re-habing from a variety of sports injuries. It was quite an amazing place and we were glad to see where Kim has been recovering from her injury and surgery
After PT our whirlwind tour began. Tom took us on a ride around the campus which included the beautiful meditation center pictured below. Incredibly serene and peaceful, overlooking a body of water. From there we went back to our beloved town of Micanopy but this time meandered through the historic cemetary. The four of us share an interest in the old stones. By this time we were in the mood for lunch and enjoyed that in Micanopy at the picture shown below. This building is so typical of the untouched nature of Jeff's favorite town. After Micanopy we moved onto MacIntosh, another little out of the way town which was fun to explore. T.P and Jeff share the ability to find adenture on all of the back roads that no one else realizes are there. As we got closer to Ocala we made a stop at the Fire College where our grandson Levi is completing his EMT course in preparation for applying for a job as a firefighter. It was there that Jeff happened to find a possible purchase for Grace Church, pictured below, a bus with your name already on it, (slightly used) Don't ever think that he forgets the needs of his former parishioners! Watch out, St. Andrew's, you're next! As the T.P. Tour came to an end we were ready for a nap after all of those miles!
That night we all met up to say goodbye to our Ocala kids. It's been great to spend this time with them but it's time for us to hit the road!
