For the last 5 days we have been relaxing at the Lantas Lodge Resort on Khlong Khong Beach on Koh Lanta. Our typical day has gone as follows: wake up before 9am, eat breakfast, beach run for Jeff and beach walk for me, morning swim, morning reading/surfing the internet/trip planning, prelunch snorkel, eat lunch, afternoon swim, afternoon reading/surfing the internet/trip planning, walking to store to buy cheaper drinks, general relaxing and dinner. This is pretty much what we have done each day for the last 5 days.

The weather the first 2 days was sunny, but the last 3 days, we have seen afternoon showers and rougher seas, but the weather overall has been great.

The snorkeling from the resort hasn't been the best. There are only rocks that get exposed during low tide, so there is really no coral and as a result not many fish and not a great variety. However, we have been able to snorkel, which we haven't really done since Koh Kradan, so we were satisfied. Highlights of the snorkeling include a barracuda (which dashed off in a shot when Jeff got too close trying to take a picture), a spotted eel that was trying to find a whole to hide in, a school of squid (I only saw them), a couple of shrimp shacking up with fish, 3 large parrot fish and a couple of schools of tiny fish.

Our trip planning was very successful, which was aided by decent wifi. We planned our Vietnam segment which includes the towns of Hoi An, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Dalat, Mui Ne, Ho Chi Minh City and the Con Dao Islands. We also started planning our South America trip which starts April 8. We are planning on stopping in Chicago and then heading to Chile (and hopefully Easter Island), Argentina, maybe Uruguay and Bolivia and to Peru. That should take us to the end of June when we will fly back to Vancouver for a wedding on the long weekend.

Tomorrow we are heading to Phuket on the ferry, specifically Kata Beach, which is supposed to have some good snorkeling from the beach.

Hey guys!

How is the beach running feeling Jeff?

It's -17 here this morning with winds at 28km/h, gusting to 48km/h, which according to the weather network makes it feel like -28. Needless to say it takes a few more layers to go for a run then it did on Koh Lanta!
