Saturday morning we took the ferry from Koh Kradan to Koh Lanta. The ferry ride was uneventful and thankfully, I was able to control my seasickness with some Gravol. When we arrived at Saladan Pier, we didn't see anyone from our hotel (and we didn’t expect to) so we picked a taxi driver. On our way to the taxi, which was parked far away, we ran into the van driver from the Twin Bays Resort and opted to take the free shuttle instead of the taxi.

Once we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by the manager and glasses of cold tea, which were nice touches. We were taken to our beach front bungalows (yes, we have found some room in the budget to splurge a little – good thing Laos was so cheap) and were impressed with the beautiful view of the bay. We ate lunch and then went swimming. The bay is extremely shallow and is sandy, so it’s only a swimming beach.

Over the next couple days, we walked down the beach to the busy end, and were happy that we are staying far away from it, frolicked in the sea (this was mostly me), read and played games.

On Valentine’s Day, Jeff and I made a sandcastle, which was easier said than done. It’s hard to build one without a bucket or shovel. Jeff tried to make us buckets out of water bottles, but they weren’t strong enough. We still managed to build a sandcastle, but it was more of a sandfortress.

We are staying here for two more nights (tonight and tomorrow) and then will be heading to Koh Phi Phi.
