Happy New Year! Today we started the second leg of our year long sabbatical, which is , taking us to Southeast Asia. On this trip, we will only be traveling to 3 countries - Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Our plan is to fly into Bangkok where we will stay for 2 nights and then head north to Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand where we will stay for just under a week. Then we will go through Laos starting in the north and heading south and will end up back in Bangkok. This part of the trip will be done with Stray Travel Tours. Once back in Bangkok, we will spend a couple days there and then spend the remainder of February traveling around Thailand. Finally, we will spend the last month in Vietnam, starting most likely in Danang and heading south down the coast towards Ho Chi Minh City.

We arrived at YVR nice and early this morning - a full 3.5 hours before our flight. We weren't able to check in online for our China Eastern flight, so we figured that we should get there a bit early. We were the first in line, which quickly grew! The airport was absolutely dead, which makes sense as most people probably do not want to fly the morning after New Year's Eve.
