Where I stayed
The hostel in El Calafate had a spectacular view of their eerie milky coloured lake. Not much happened on the first day as it was merely a stop over to get to the hiking area. We walked around the town and ate asado (bbq) for dinner at the hostel. This was the first night of many shared dorms to come.
The next day before heading into Chile we visited the amazing Glacier Perito Moreno. It is huge and is an brilliant blue colour where the air has been squeezed out and it can move up to 2 meters per day! We watched as house size chunks of ice fell from its 50 metre high walls into the water making a thundering noise. Check out the video we took of it below!!
