This temple has been continuously occupied by monks since its construction during the reign of Jayavarman VII around 1200. The only interruption in this occupancy was during the 1960's when it was reportedly inhabited by a group of dangerous wild deer. Yes folks, watch out for those wild deer!
The leaves crunching under my feet as I explored this temple were a strange juxtaposition. Here I was, treading through a millenium-old structure of a lost kingdom, and nudging my ears with every step was the sound of maple leaves in October.
