So after my first night camping and waking up absolutely frozen to the bone! The warm nights are still yet to reach Washington! We got up and had breakfast ready for Rianne to drive us into the city again to go exploring Washing DC in the day! Once we arrived, Rianne told us to meet up in the same place as see dropped us off at 6 p.m for pizza. Me and Lizzy decided to hung out for the day as we both had simular tastes on what we wanted to see. First we headed to the U.S capital to get a glimpise of it during the day! After, we headed to the museums, and believe me Washington is not short on museums!! The museums are located all around the green called the 'Mall' where
most of the monuments are based. Our first museum was the National History museum, it was a pretty impressive museum and was home to the 'Hope diamond', which is the necklace that is used in the Titanic film (the Kate Winslet one) that was amazing to see in itself! Especially as the 100th anniversary was soon approaching. After, spending afew good hours in the National History museum we decided to head to the American History museum, which was located right next door! Handy! To be honest, this museum I was alittle disappointed with! It took us about an hour to walk around the whole museum and that included stopping at the gift shop! I'm afarid to our fellow Americans they where trying to fill a huge, historic building with the little history they have1 Not saying their history is minor, its just not as large as ours! I felt alittle bad for them, there was alot of empty wall space! However, I did learn quite abit about the presidents and that England was always trying to invade the country! What are we like, hey!!
After the American History museum, we were surprised to see that it was very hot and sunny outside! So, we did what all Brits do when the sun comes out, we went and got ice cream! After ice cream, we decided it was time to visit the President! It was situated behide the museums about 1/2 mile away. Once we got there, they had the place closed off as there were people waiting to enter the White house! Where they closed it off you had no chance of even seeing the top of the
building! Me and Lizzie made a couple of comments about Buckingham Palace never being closed off, so we gave up and decided to head up the street further to see the back of the White House (that is actually the front!) this was open and was able to see it quite clearly. However, we were both wanting to see the back of the building, which is the more famous shot. It had been 1/2 hour, so we walked back just in time to see them lift the barriers! We managed to get some good shots, however if I'm too be completely honest! I was expecting more! I ctually thought the U.S Captial was more impressive than the White House! Sorry Obama!
After we decided to sit by the Washington Monument for a while and had our lunch. After, me and Lizzie found out we both had a common love for Gift shops! So, off to the shops we went! Well, that was until we saw the Space and Air museum! Now, I had no real interest in the air stuff
(aeroplanes) but the space stuff I really enjoyed! And luckily Lizzie also had no interest in the air, but loved the space! After learning even more about space to the point wher my brain hurt, we headed to a large room, where flat sreens covered a wall and had Google map on! Now there was a bunch of Americans showing off about where they lived in America and showing others there area, that was before me and lizzie got hold of it and decided to take the Google map to an area I can guess it rarely visited! ENGLAND! Yep, we decided to educate the Americans on our little island! Ha! And I do believe they were jealous of us for a bit, but they just didn't want to show it! After, that it was time to meet up with Rianne, we joked about the Google map take over with the others as we all ate pizza on the grass on the Mall, before heading back to camp. It was to be a 5 a.m start the next morning for a 6 a.m get away, as we had a 9 hour drive! So to bed (or the floor of the tent) we went!
