Where I stayed
The clutch parts that were to be here at 9 arrive at noon, no should be here in time to get them installed by 4pm. It is 4:30 and no word. It's no problem as we have to wait for both the bike and Jene to be repaired, actually good timing on both of their parts to break down together
Rene, Fern and I wander the town to get my bag sewn properly, Rene has some shoes, and his vest to be repaired too. The tailor puts in some elastic on the vest to allow the vest to be worn over the jacket Rene says. The repair cost me 10 mil, $5 US right?
As I walk the town alone to take some pictures of the church and town I notice the Policia talking to a guy that looks just like Fern. It is Fern, They make him stand up off the steps he is sitting on while watching the people..He thinks that he is not allowed to sit there perhaps. No, it is more than that, they pat him down, ask him for his Passport and have a discussion amongst themselves. I watch from across the street, I capture it all on the camera so we can use it in court. They let him go with out further delay, perturbed that he doesn't speak Spanish.
The people of Columbia have been the most friendly, most courteous, and helpful of any country we have visited ( and that is saying something)! Some of my readers and friends thought we were crazy to visit here. I am so glad that we came, a country and it's people not to be missed.
Lunch came with too much food so Rene had the waiter bring a to go box. We loaded it up with our leftovers and didn't have to travel far (20 steps) to find a hungry looking guy to help out. You have to love that about these Canadians I am lucky enough to be traveling with.
OK a couple of loose ends here:
I love getting comments from all of you
I have to tell you that since I took off the center stand, my riding has changed form cornering with trepidation, to having the confidence in Gorda that we can handle anything! Since the roads have really gotten more twisty and more bumpy the decision to leave it at Elaine's was a very good one. Yea me!
There are a few folks who are new readers to this blog from last year where I stated my disclaimer, so here it is again. This blog is for fun and the entertainment of friends and family, and a way for me to keep a diary of sorts. I sometimes don't have the energy to proofread it and some computers I use can't spell check. The keyboards all are sticky and some of the letters are worn off the keys. So if you are looking for a well written, punctuated, document, with good syntax (whatever that is) or good structure, you will most likely be disappointed. Also if you are looking for a cleaned up story for kids you may want to just read it to them so you can leave out what you think is inappropriate. It is my story and I am sticking to it!
I know it must seem like there is a lot of dangerous stuff, and there is
