Mother and Father's Days are different in Thailand than in America and other countries.  These holidays align with the King and Queen's Birthdays respectively.  So technically Joe and I can celebrate these days twice a year. :-) Joe took Friday off and we headed out early for Hua Hin.  Its about a three hours drive from Bangkok.  We were on the road by 7:00 and missed all the traffic through Bangkok which we were happy about.

We were meeting two other friends there with their families.  Two of the boys attend Josey's school.  Although they were older they got on really well together.  Josey is very daring for a three year old, so she kept right up with the boys going down the water slide and swimming.  She was the first to go for a horse back ride on the beach.  The weather was great, the resort wonderful and the company fantastic.  One couple are Norwegian/Sri Lankan and the other are Thai/American.  They are both great fun.  We spent all our time by the ocean and pool.  The kids played hard all day and collapsed by dinnertime.  The first night we had to eat in our room and we could not wake Josey up.  She slept through the night until 6:30 Saturday morning!

Jonas really worked on his walking skills.  There were paths all around the resort.  It was really beautiful and quiet!!  This is something we always look for when escaping Bangkok is somewhere with out road noise.  Hua Hin was very nice and very clean.  The King has a summer residence there and was in Hua Hin for the first time in 3 years, so everything was spiffied up for him.  We had a fantastic Italian dinner after having drinks on the beach at our hotel.  The kids ran around and we all enjoyed the sound of the surf.  The restaurant had red checked table clothes and all.  Really great food!  We ate way too much and rolled ourselves home.

We reluctantly packed up our stuff after having a final swim in the ocean and the pool.  Josey did a dozen more slides down the big slide and we headed back to Bangkok.  We stopped at a great beach side restaurant for some super spicy Thai seafood on the way and made the trip back without incident.  As another beach weekend comes to a close we know that we will have more to come.
