The first leg of our return trip is done and we have just one very long one to go. I wanted to thank everyone who sent us messages during our journey. I hope you found it somewhat entertaining.

For all those outstanding bets: we never killed each other. There were 2 small spats...one in Lake Taupo on the North Island and the other in Franz Josef on the South Island (all internet related when I was downloading pictures...so you all benefited from those spats and my iron will). But we were tired both times and we hugged it out. So, we win all the money--please pay up in denominations of 20s and with unmarked bills.

I must say, we missed Babs these past 7 days. Probably Scott missed her the most as he hasn't slept nearly as well since we left her in Christchurch. Scott has also been suffering from the shakes and withdrawal because he hasn't had his "crack" since NZ either (crack = Kelloggs Crunchy Nut Clusters laced with non-hormone fed happy cow milk).

However, it has been nice not to worry about when your hot water will run out (or if there will be hot water at all; and Flip-flops are for beaches and daily strolls, not to protect my feet from the public showers), doing the "chores" (aka dumping the shitter--caveat: I supervised with great skill but Scott did all the dirty work), whether there will be a restaurant open in the town we are staying in and avoiding Wattie's soup night, and whether the "red wrench" indicator light on the dashboard really means something (or Babs could just be slightly underpowered)

In 12 hours we will be back in LA, but we really enjoyed our adventure on the roads of NZ and surviving the "resort" in Cairns and our short swing through Sydney. We will accept donations for the insight and perspective we have gained and nominal fees for travel advice. If you read our posts EVERYDAY, you will earn a 10% credit. Look for our tell-all book on sibling relationships and international incidents to appear on Oprah's book club listings in the new year.

Thanks for reading along...kia ora and g'day.
