Summer Holidays.  I remember them as the best times.  School was out and one could play everyday.  I still get that feeling as the school year ends and summer can officially begin.

The highlight of my short trip to Victoria was photographing the buck who visited my parent's yard every day.  He was not afraid of me, as he just stared at me as I took his picture.  Now, I was on the other side of a fence, but I imagine that he is used to humans checking him out.

Many of the neighbours are annoyed at the resident deer as they are eating all the flowers and plants.  I remember that day my father and I planted over 100 new plants and "Mr. Buck" arrived and checked them out. He did eat a few.  However, he has decided that the hosta plants are the tastiest. My mom says that we have taken away their habitat and we need to learn to live with them.  However, if he eats her sweet peas, she may feel differently.

As well as the deer in the yard, several little birds have found the bird feeder.  The cats, Meeko and Bella are not happy with their new visitors.   They are wary of the deer, but those little birds that flit around the outside of the chicken wire fence drive them nuts.

My folks and I went out for a few good meals and I cooked a few meals as well.  At a restaurant on the Gorge, we shared three appetizers.  The view was great.  After lunch, we strolled around the waterfront watching kayaking lessons.

A year has made a difference in my dad.  He is now able to walk.  He new knee is not perfect yet, but he is busy enjoying life again.
