Jenn: Well, we arrived safe and sound and are all tucked in to a room located in a building that connected to the ranch headquarters.

The drive was uneventful though it did include a stop at the Buc-ee's of all Buc-ee's. Becca and Kelly and Melissa will be glad to hear that both Grandma Lucy and Little Lucy became the proud owners of their very own Buc-ee's Cup. (Kelly be sure to stop and get one for Julie when you guys trek up.)

When we drove through the gates at the Ranch, my phone made this awful dying sound, coughed twice and said ..."There is no Cellular Service available." Have I lost my mind. No cell service. However when we checked in, we found out there is free wireless available in the headquarters and our location allows me to jump on from the room! YAY!

We got here too late for the afternoon ride, but Lucy had been warned so it was no problem. Our room is big and they already moved in the extra bed. They do have a heated pool (which for the record really just makes it less cold) and we swam yesterday. The pool you could adjust to, but the cold wind that hit us on the way back to our room almost did us in. Apparently we did not bring warm enough clothes.

Dinner is family style and last night we had fried catfish, sliced potatoes with dill, yummy steamed okra and chocolate pie. They know how to feed hungry cowgirls and boys here :)

After dinner we had a campfire and a cowboy (touring) named Makin Dust sang campfire songs like get along little doggies and Deep in the Heart of Texas while we roasted and ate marshmallows. There is a passel of kids here and they were singing loud and loving it. In fact, Dust had Lucy stand up next to him and we all sang to her a verse of that jingle, jangle song - you can imagine her smile ...

This morning we had pancakes and fruit and our first horseback ride is at 10.

Grandma Lucy is loving the laid back pace of life here already – though right now she is heading to the gift shop which just opened J I suspect we will have a CD of Makin Dust soon.

Lucy Lin is currently playing ping pong with grandma (who was diverted from the gift shop) and is crazy excited about the ride. Lucy Lin is banking on 'cuteing' her way to getting to ride by herself. I think her odds are good.

Mary – I wanted to tell you that Lucy Lin had a photoshoot for her boots this morning. Some lady here LOVED them and took some pictures.

Talk to Y’ALL later. J
