Didn't actually make it to THAT Abbey Road crossing, but every second bus seemed to be going there.Yesterday I tried travelling above ground on the buses - a brave adventure without a bus map! Buses list a number of suburbs as well as their final destination, so a combination of hopping on and off and retreating to the certainty of the tube got me around.

Liz and I did a shop and market crawl, starting with Portobello Road while Rob went to Portsmouth for the day. Covent Gardens offered good entertainment and a trawl through Harrods was enlightening. Being almost next door, the Victoria and Albert Museum warranted a couple of hours before a roundabout bus trip home.

Today was a walking tour of Greenwich, led by Richard, an entertaining and informative guide. The tour started at Tower Hill with an introduction to the Tower of London then a 30 minute cruise down the Thames to Greenwich in ideal weather. Mention of locks by the captain on the boat reminded me of a little rowing boat that had probably been this way, Sandy M, and walking for another full day had me thinking of Laura T and how we should have trained more!

On return to London, I headed for Hyde Park to do a 'compare-and-contrast' with Central Park last Sunday... Much more sedate here. Little more than sitting, walking and a few paddle boats. The few skaters were certainly not the entertainment value enjoyed last week.
So tonight is Sunday - must be packing night. Off to Paris early tomorrow morning.
Happy Birthday, Rohan!
Bon soir!
