Three hours pass relatively painlessly in Hong Kong airport, thanks to free wireless internet and expansive windows looking over the runways. Planes take off into the morning sky with increasing frequency and the thrill of watching them never wanes.
We take turns to guard the trolley of possessions or wander through the shops.
Once on board, l again eat, drink then bunker down for a nap. This time, the iPod is set to work through Paul Kelly's A-Z and the no-waking rule reiterated.
"From St. Kilda to King's Cross"... It is an appropriate song to wake to, being his ode to his favourite and my neighbouring suburb. It also means that at over forty songs, I've slept for a couple of hours!
The mood lifts further as I fly through a Smartgate at Immigration and get waved through at Customs. The bags arrive promptly and Rohan is waiting at out rendez-vous point with the boot open and ready.
So we head home to three excited dogs and not too much chaos at all. The kitchen and fridge are impressively clean!
And we have all come home alive and full of memories. Win-win!
