Yesterday's two favourite words were "FREE UPGRADE". We're unsure what we got above the standard room. Maybe the designer refit of that floor. It is only when Liz pulls a cord in the shower thinking it is the exhaust fan that a recurring buzzer goes off and we realise it is an alarm. Then we notice the width of the doorway, the fold-out arm by the toilet and the plastic (shower) chair tucked under the vanity and realise we have THE GERIATRIC ROOM!

But it came with many other favourite double word combos!
Feather pillows.
Soft mattresses.
Spacious bathroom.
Shampoo supplied. .
Quality fittings.
Free wi-fi.
Convenient location.

And an even better three-worder... Complimentary buffet breakfast!

In fact, we wonder how Starhotel E.c.h.o. still fitted within our budget and recommend the geriatric room highly!

The airport shuttle bus leaves for Milan Malpensa airport just across the road and we board the 9.00am bus for the one hour trip. The airport is just that - unremarkable - and we settle in to our Singapore Airlines seats for the 11 hour flight overnight to Singapore.

There is a mix of happiness to be going home - four weeks has been enough to be away and always moving - and, particularly for Liz, despair at having to return to work and deal with the problems that will have undoubtedly eventuated over that time.

Our flight takes us over the Northern Adriatic, Bosnia-Herzegovnia, Bulgaria and Turkey. We skirt Iraq and Afghanistan, try to sleep over Indian and eat breakfast above the Andaman Sea. It has been the most turbulent flight I have flown with drinks slopped and hours of wobbling in our seats.

But all this is forgotten when greeted with the ever-chirpy smile of BB, our hostess for the next few days. Home, some raisin toast and a few hours sleep and we're ready to take on Singapore!

Not surprisingly, photos today are minimal...
