One month out and the planning is familiar...

Liz and I spoke on the phone regularly, but one call in June 2010 was quite out of the ordinary... "Would you like to join me on a trip to Europe? In 2012?"
What a silly question!
"Maybe you can start some internet research" she said. Just my cup of tea, although two years out seemed a bit keen!
But those two years have passed quickly and emails have been plentiful... a full circumnavigation of Europe has been refined to London, Paris, Spain, the south of France and Singapore. Must-see sights have been pinpointed and preferred routes discussed.
With Liz's fine management skills, all trains, planes and hotels are booked. We even have tickets for the the Alhambras and the Tower of London organised. And a daughter to visit in London too!...
But here, one month away from departure and there's still so much to do. A quick review of that last European trip shows that the jobs list is much the same!

Rohan to sort instead of Hilary. Guttering instead of vacuum. Wagner's tablets to order. Scout hall management to delegate. And now a mice invasion to control...
What? Clothes to pack too?!
Today I have ordered a Power Tube - a back up battery for my phone and iPad and am looking forward to thoroughly testing the versatility of an iPad on the road.

In the five years since I took a laptop to Europe, Facebook has appeared and taken over for messaging the offspring, Skype is now very mainstream and Google Street View walks me through most destinations from the opposite side of the world. I have Google Maps to locate our hotels and emailed train tickets with QR codes for checking in. I'm loaded up with a few iBooks, travel guides and puzzles, a few thousand songs and The Age online. I'm set!
Sadly, no competition win has been forthcoming with business class fares, so we face another haul in economy. To counter this, we are flying Singapore Airlines who have impressed greatly of late.
So settle back for an armchair pilgrimage with an architectural bent...
Hurra! Magnifique!

Has your Power Tube broken down already? You have been gone 3 days and no entry yet. Chop, Chop.
