we are staying with a pal of mine from high school
she's currently a teacher for 7th graders
we are living with her in her apartment in Harlem
the streets are full of different people
and so many different languages
we went out to dinner last night at a little restaurant Risotteria
Julia and I had some wine of the month and talked about all the interesting things she encounters as a teacher
our server was Rodney
i got his number before we left and we ended up hanging out with him later in the evening when he was finished with work
Death & Co.
^---the outside of this bar looks extremely intriguing
so intriguing that i asked the bouncer what the name meant
during prohibition while at a speakeasy you were said to be drinking with death
brittney has passed out in the taxi each night we've been here
it's quite funny though harder once where we need to be...getting her out and all
we went to some bar where all shots are $1
that turned out very dangerous
and the bartender, AJ, decided giving me free shots was a good choice
then i needed strictly water which he responded to with "means i'm doing my job"
hugging strangers
then telling them they don't hug very well
then everyone else wants to show they can hug better
hugs are great!
a guy saved my life on the subway
i was about to fall backward because it started to go forward
and he grabbed my arm
thanks man on the subway
saw an apartment on Wall St.!
an old buddies from high school
we watched the packer game at an irish bar and Rodney joined up with us again
of course i got sick the morning after AJ was giving me free shots
but that doesn't mean i get the next night off
i am from wisconsin and it's julia....
we found the mystery ice cream shop the other day that brittney could only vaguely describe
Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory
right next to the bridge
we sat by the water and watched the five different wedding parties take pictures
brittney fell in love with a bartender at The Irish Rogue named Allen
he was from Dublin
fair enough
then brittney falls into her australian accent
go to Evolution in Soho
then stop by Vosges Chocolates for a treat
it's only a few doors away
maybe stop for some eats in Little Italy
when all of this happens within 48 hrs
you know you're in NYC
