The rain was really coming down on our drive from Beaumont to New Orleans. For several miles, I-10 was a bridge over a bunch of swamp land. We stopped at the Blue Dog Cafe in Lafayette for some good Cajun food. It was Mariana's first time eating Cajun food and she wasn't too impressed with the seafood gumbo so exchanged it for a really good crab au gratin.
Our hotel, Hotel Monteleone, was pretty nice and only $85/night. We worked out at their rooftop exercise room before going out in the French Quarter and completely reversing any good we did to ourselves. We had dinner at Acme Oyster House. I had a great shrimp and oyster po-boy and Mariana had a good red beans and rice in a bread bowl. After dinner, we went into a few random bars on Bourbon Street then to Pat O'Brien's for a hurricane. It was all downhill from there. We stopped at a couple more places before calling it a night.
