Today, I woke up at 6:00 and ran 4.01 miles in 32:55.
We got breakfast from the cafe at the Grand Wailea then brought it down to the pool with us. I ran in Jim Spray (fmr Kineticom coworker) and his wife at the cafe.
Hung out for a couple hours at the Grand Wailea and did some snorkeling in front of the Four Seasons. The snorkeling was pretty good there. I saw a lot of fish and some sort of eel.
For lunch, Mariana had a $13 hot dog at the pool-- good but not worth $13. Our budget was running low so I had to eat at Maui Tacos. Great shrimp tacos and fish tacos!
After lunch, we drove further south to Big Beach at Makena. It was really pretty and huge waves that broke right on the shore. Some crazy younger kids had no problem being smashed with their Boogeyboards onto the sand. I didn't even bother. We stayed long enough for a nap then drove further south.
The drive down was pretty neat as the road literally ran next the to ocean. Waves would even splash up onto the car. We made it almost to the end at La Perause Bay. That is the site of Maui's most recent lava flow which happened in 1790. It formed a little bay with a great point break at one end. The waves were easily a foot overhead and we watched some guys ride in the barrel there.
Around sunset, we went for a Mariana "power walk" for about 2.5 miles along the walkway in front of our hotels and the adjacent ones.
I finally gave her her wedding gift tonight. It was a nice pair of earrings which look really good on her.
For dinner, we drove back up to Lahaina and ate at Kimo's. The drive back was horrible because they were doing construction on a tunnel and closing the road for about 20 minutes at a time. Unfortunately, we got stuck behind two shifts of cars. We didn't get to sleep until 11:00 pm! We felt pretty wild staying up so late!
