So this town is yes. Old style, a bit sprawled out and ridiculous, but a good old downtown. I arrived early enough to eat at a buffet, Chinese, and watch the sun go down while drinking thro- pots of hot tea. I was trying to sooth my sore and the cough. After dining, I hit a gas station for the scoop on hotel thrift, and a peculiar young fellow, and the station attendant alert me to 3 low-budget inns. I call one and the man on the line, I presume to be intoxicated with some substance or another, ask me how many hours I want the room for. I tell him "all night" and he continues to babble on like "come on down to the ___, you know where its at! Just come on to the ___, you know, its right here!" or something like that. The rate is $45/night, barely better than an established Motel 8. I call the SANDS, thinking im in for the same, but a polite fellow picks up and tells me its $34. Thats right, rates straight out of 1999. I get directions from the peculair fellow at the station and head to the hotel. They only take cash, I should have known from the night before, and I leave my pack there and pedal about 4 miles to Walmart for a transaction, I get nectarines to share with the hotel operator. He chats with me a bit about his own previus life, and is impressed with my trip, and we garner instant trust through the conversation. I couldn't be happier with the room, though it doesn't have Cinemax like the one from Jasper,  I drink my tea turn the tube to CBS and fall asleep listening to presidential stuff. I wake up before 7AM and ... BE BACK SOON!
