We drove to New Jersey to meet one of J's friends that is here from London for dinner. The traffic was horrendous, the Pope was in town and the police were blocking some of the highways. Its the first time that Pope Benedict XVI is visiting the States. Apparently they started planning the security since last year October sometime. The area we went to know is known as "The Village" or "Greenwich Village", very similar to Melville, doesn't seem like it sleeps at all.
For over 100 years, this small area below 14th Street and west of Broadway has been a Mecca to the creative, rebellious and Bhoemian. Although today, no starving artists could afford to live there, the vibe still lingers and the beat goes on...
We had dinner at Fish restaurant, it was a nice and cosy restaurant and the food was okay. J had a soft shell crab sandwich, the crab came in its original shape, check the photo out. We had a good time. On the way home we got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic after midnight. It was unbelieveable that at that there would be so much traffic.
