We arrived at Puebla airport at 9pm and got to our hotel at around 10.30pm. We were surprised the next day to see that we were staying right next to the center of the old town.
The hotel wasnīt the most amazing but there arenīt any hostels and it was the best we could get for what we had. We had to manually fill the toilet every time we used it. As you can imagine some mornings we would find little surprises waiting for us !!!!!!!
One of the local specialties is a Puebla sauce which they cover all manner of things in. The sauce is made of chocolate, chillies and various other spices. We both liked it but there was may be a little too much on the plate and it did become a bit sickly.
We then traveled 3 hours east by bus to a place called Xalapa pronounced "Halapa". Which is 1450 m above sea level, the town is on a massive hill and everywhere the cobbled streets twist and turn steeply. The hotel is such a nice change itīs really really nice. Covered from head to foot in ceramic tiles, stained glass and flowers. We even have a flushing toilet and Spanish telly!
