After a having a 16 hour trip to the grand canyon we jumped straight on the gray hound bus to San Diego which took another 16 hours.  ´We looked a right pair when we arrived at the bus depo.  

We had booked into a hostel at Ocean Beach about ten min north of down town.  Not a bad little spot right by the beach and loads of cool little shops.  It´s sort of got a bit of a hippie/heavy metal feel to it as you´ve got people with card board signs asking for spare change to buy weed and then others with flowing skirts dancing to the local busker. 
We chilled in San Diego for about four days and visited the old town which looked like a set from a wild west film.  Then we hopped on a tram to the boarder town Tijuana to enter Mexico.
