After a great time had in Sydney I was ready to see something new, so Esther & I booked a night bus from Sydney to Melbourne.

The drive was 12 hours long, and, us thinking we were being clever thought that we would save money as we wouldn't need to pay for a night's accommodation but instead sleep on the bus...how wrong we were. 12 hours of no shut-eye...EVEN armed with our fantastic sleep kit consisting of blow-up neck pillow, ear plugs and eye mask. So, in the end we thought if you can't beat em' join em'.
We arrived in central Melbourne at 7am the next day, absolutely knackered! Couldn't check in to the hostel until 2pm so we went for an explore around the city discovering tiny lanes with cool cafes hidden away and took the city tram which circles the city.

The next few days were spent driving the Great Ocean Road, which was awesome! Got to see the beaches, 12 Apostles, London Bridge and Koalas in the wild.

Have done a few other tourist attractions including the Melbourne Zoo and the Victoria State Library - defo worth a visit. Randomly got free tickets to see Elton John play at the Rod Lava Arena which was fun! His supporting act were a duo 'The 2 Chellos'. These two guys on chellos played a range of cool stuff including Nirvana, Queen and Michael Jackson songs.

Melbourne has a very different feel to it than Sydney - more chilled and bohemian.

One positive of Melbourne = impressive coffee

One negative of Melbourne = unpredictable weather

One Positive of Sydney = great beaches and better weather

One Negative of Sydney = everyone is on a mission

We Stayed in the city centre for a few nights then headed down to a suburb, St Kilda. Have now been staying in St Kilda for a good few weeks. It's cool here...
