Today we woke up a little late. The room we are staying in has no natural light so the kids gave us a little bit of a sleep-in. We headed out for a late breakfast.

After checking out the many breakfast menus around here, we chose a little shop that had some good set menus for good prices. A pity the food and service wasn't as good as the price. First of all - note to Vietnamese restaurants - if a child is having a set menu, THEY CAN'T DRINK THE COFFEE! Be more flexible and allow them to change it to a juice! A juice is a little cheaper but the parents are willing to pay the normal amount! It's quite simple... you run a cash economy anyway so it's not like you'll miss "one coffee" in stocktake! Secondly, if you are going to advertise an omelette... try and make one with normal eggs! Not powdered eggs! They make it taste like absolutely nothing! At least the baguette was good. Thirdly, it wouldn't hurt your staff to smile a little more. I don't like eating my breakfast in a morgue.

After that terrible start to the day, we decided that we were going to get many prices for overnight stays in the Mekong Delta. We headed to many tour places, and decided to walk to one that was over a little way - it was a lovely day in Saigon and we thought "let's not waste what sun we have!"

We walked down past the market, looking in at some stores (I bought some Calvin Klein knockoff undies - nice!). Kythera got talking to an English bloke and his Cambodian wife. The English guy (Lee) is a freelance English teacher and was prospecting for new clients in Vietnam (they intend to move here in a month). They have a young kid about 8 months old called Daniel and they wanted to know where Kythera got our prams from and how much. Kythera thought for a while and then we both decided that we don't really need Ophelia's pram anymore - she can walk and we don't have any long treks coming up, especially if we're in the Delta - so we gave it to them. Ophelia said bye bye to her beautiful red pram. It was sad, because we lost her dummy last night out with Lawrence and Lucy so she has lost her dummy and her pram in the space of 12 hours. The pram has served us well in Vietnam, and I hope Lee and his family get good use out of it.

After checking out all the tour prices ($300 USD for two days, one night including homestay), we decided to do some math back at our hotel room while the kids napped. We decided to forgo an overnight and perhaps stay in luxury for at least New Years in a top, fancy hotel. We decided to perhaps take a day trip to the Mekong in the coming days, but that's not set in stone as we still want to check out Saigon's sights, as well as the Water Park.

We then went for a walk around the local Central Park where there is a huge food and music festival happening for the Xmas/NY period. I saw some frog's legs cooking, and, being willing to try anything, chose to buy three pairs of legs on a skewer. Not much meat, consistency of fish, tastes a little like fish. Very spicy marinade though. Kythera chose to have a corn on the cob which was nothing like the Aussie ones, so therefore sucked.

We wound down before dinner in Central Park as the day turned into night and watched two older men playing with a goa. I then took out our ball-rocket-thing and we threw that around a bit (Jonas enjoyed breaking it whilst Ophelia cried).

After a short period of craziness, we decided to go to dinner and we went to a place called "Milwaukee's". I chose to have the quesadillas and some wedges, whilst Kythera had the nachos and burritos. Ophelia asked for pasta but refused to eat it, so didn't get any dessert. She was devastated.

We then put the kids to bed and watched a little bit of football on the TV, before looking up some highclass hotels for our luxury stay. We made a couple of choices to look at tomorrow and then went to bed.
