Happy Canada Day!! After the long flight home, we finally arrived in Vancouver, found a bus to Nanaimo, and took a taxi to Dad's house.....wow! Taxis are expensive here! haha. We spent Canada Day, as proud Canadians, in Victoria....wearing long sleeves, jackets, and pants....so cold! The day was awesome! We were part of the Victoria Living Flag...around 2500 people gathered together in red and white shirts to form a large Canada Flag...so we made our Canadian Debut on the front page of the Victoria paper...haha. Our hotel room was fantastic, right off the harbour with a perfect view of the fireworks. it also had a full kitchen, so...since it's been awhile since we had home made cookies, we didn't hesitate to bake some!! MMMM...Chocolate Chip cookies for breakfast...nothing better....UH OH, beep beep beep....nope, not the microwave...the hotel fire alarm! I jump out of bed to put some clothes on in case someone came to investigate, then soon joined Jay with a tea towel, waving it frantically at the smoke detector! We opened all the windows and it soon stopped...with no one coming to investigate...lol. So we enjoyed our cookies...all 24 of them...ugh.

Victoria is a wonderful city...with the harbour, fisherman's wharf area and the floating village (you MUST eat at Barb's Fish and Chips when in Victoria!!), and the wonderful downtown core. We couldn't tell anyone that we were home because we got word that Jay's parents were going camping near Revelstoke....a surprise was in the works! After spending some time with Dad in Nanaimo, we rented a car and started on the last leg of our journey....Home. We timed it perfectly. It was supper time when we pulled into the Blanket Creek Campground with only a tent and a couple utility blankets...in hopes that Jay's parents would have the rest of the supplies we would need. Expecting a wonderful campfire dinner to be ready when we arrived, we drove around looking for their site...and around...and around again. Hmm..there's only a few sites, and they are nowhere to be found! We couldn't get cell reception, so we went further down the highway to the next provincial campground...they weren't there either!!! So, here we are...it's now almost 9pm, we only have a tent, and nowhere to stay since Jay's parents were nowhere to be found!! There was only one thing to do...head into Revelstoke for the night!

After a disguised phone call to Jay's sister, we finally got her on side with our plan....only one flaw...she thought they were at the same campground that we thought they were at! Yikes...what now?! She did some investigation, giving them a call and pretending to be interested in the campground they were staying at...turns out, they had a last minute change of heart on the campsite and went to a different one with a boat launch...sigh. We finally found their site the next day...they were out on the boat! Perfect! We pulled out their lounger lawn chairs and relaxed...oops! Both of us fell asleep! Jane and Laurier came around the corner...."What the hell?"....hahahaha. It was a great surprise and very entertaining to see their reaction! We were just lucky that they brought enough food to share! haha. It was a great week camping...with the exception of the ice cold showers and trying to sneak Jay into the "ladies" shower since the men's was broken.

We took our time driving home, stopping in Golden to eat at Heather Mountain Lodge, where our adventure first begun...only to find out that they don't serve lunch! haha. We carried on to Canmore and ended up staying in an awesome condo for the night!...Definitely must go back there!

Most of you can probably guess what we did for our First Anniversary on July 31....yup...that's right....the good old Comedy Club! We spent a wonderful evening at the Comic Strip, doing what we do best....laughing!

The last couple weeks have been super busy and unorganized! We managed to get our house back on August 1...after two weeks of mooching off of the parents...haha. We've been stuck without phone and internet so far....currently at McDonald's to use the WIFI in order to post our blog~! lol. Both of us lucked out and work came searching for us. We were both suppose to start on August 2, hence the early return...but are now on vacation until August 15...if you can call house renovations and sleeping on the floor in an empty house a vacation...haha. I have my cat back and we are super happy to be home!...and excited for what's to come in the near future! Thanks to everyone for staying in touch with us on our travels. It was great to be able to share them with you... and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
