After spending a day out in the suburbs of Vegas and almost walking to the strip we were both very keen to hit the next hotel, which is the Plaza hotel in downtown Vegas opposite the famous Fremont street. We checked out at 11am and couldn't check in until 3pm at the plaza. So after checkout we left our bags for a bit at Crossland and went thrift shopping in a spot down the street a bit. This thrift shop was huge so we were there a little while. After that we headed back to the hotel and waited for a cab. The cab arrived after a short wait, the driver seemed like a good dude and gave us some tips and info on what to do in Vegas. We couldn't check straight in so we left our stuff at the bell desk storage and went out to check out the area. We walked across the street onto the famous Fremont street and walked down past the bars, casinos, strip clubs and restaurants. Fremont street goes for about 3 large blocks of pedestrian only walking area then turns into streets with cars. We found a cool clothing shop to look in but soon were heading into a residential area so we turned and started walking towards the strip. We walked back one block and got onto Las Vegas Blvd, between downtown and the strip it gets a little dodgy with homeless people, around the area with all the wedding chapels which is weird. We ended up walking right to the first part of the strip with the Stratosphere hotel, which is a massive building with crazy rides on top and circus circus which is a massive casino/hotel with a circus. We went into a Ross shop which sells cheap clothes and accessories for a while. Afterwards we headed back on the bus which we saw would take us right to Fremont street. Once back at the hotel we checked into our room, it was on the 18th floor and the window looked down to the strip which was a great view. The room was really nice, with 2 beds a good tv and plenty of channels. We settled into our room and chilled out for a bit. For dinner we went downstairs to a restaurant called Hash House a GoGo, the waiter was one of the best service providers I've ever had, so friendly and even told us the meals are massive and we could easily share one and be full. We got a half priced bottle of wine and shared a crab cake pesto pasta salad entree, as well as sharing pork ribs, the guy was right, the meals were huge. We really enjoyed our dinner, we were full and it only cost $50 with a bottle of wine. After dinner we took a walk down Fremont street again for a look, there were people everywhere drinking in the street, we got yard glass daiquiris. There was a concert going on with musicians and singers dressed in Halloween costumes playing rock and rap music. Then what's called the Fremont street experience started, which is where the entire roof of Fremont street which runs 3 blocks becomes a massive screen and has crazy visions on all sorts of colorful stuff played on it to Heart songs like Magic man and Barracuda, it was pretty impressive, nearly every person on the street was looking up, taking photos or filming the crazy colors, stars, butterflies and pictures that come on the biggest screen in the world. We didn't stay to watch the entire thing, we walked back to the hotel and finished our yard glass drinks, Bobbie had hers on the bath. We didn't have a late night.
