Courseulles-sur-Mer is the small seaside village where the Canadians landed during D-Day and is also home to the Juno Beach Centre, a Canadian museum celebrating Canada and it's effort to end the war.
There was a steady stream of Canadians and other visitors during my time in Courseulles-sur-Mer. School groups from Kitchener and Sudbury too, learning hands-on, the history of their country.
Leaving Juno Beach was a perplexing feeling ~ overwhelming sadness at the loss of so many people and the destruction that occurred but also a strong sense of pride knowing that, when the time came, there where Canadians who stood up, no questions asked, and saved millions of people from the war.
Lest We Forget the sacrifices they gave so we can enjoy the freedoms we do today.
