In response Auckland hosts a grand Lantern Festival in Albert Park that lasts for three days and attracts hundreds of visitors. Some of the lanterns were produced overseas and created especially for this event.
As well as the wandering around the lantern displays and various food stalls there were also two stage areas to keep visitors entertained. The last day of the festival ended with an impressive fireworks display with a mixture of Chinese and Maori dancing on stage.
