After a very restful sleep Hendrik, Sebastian and I spent the day walking. We started off with the short nature trail that circuits the grounds and then Pauline kindly dropped us off about 8km away. The walk back was via very quiet roads with incredible scenery of valleys on either side. Our route eventually took us to Kohukohu where we followed the 'Historic' trail past various 'sites' around the town. These ranged from the oldest bridge in New Zealand to an old train sleeper chassis left at the side of the road.
A veggie burger later and we were on the home stretch back to The Tree House. As it started to get dark we tried thumbing a lift back. The lack of cars on the road meant we only succeeded at the end of our walk home, the lift literally only taking us round a couple of bends. Back in the kitchen and another sumptuous dinner later we were treated to some music from a Swiss girl and Dutch couple who had a recorder and violin.
