I arrived at Iquazu at about  3AM after a long day traveling from Colonia Pellegrini by 4X4 and then, later, a trip on the bus from Posadas.  I walked from the bus station up a hill looking for a hostel; plenty were available, and I selected Hostel Iquazu because it advertised HI. (Hostel International).  I checked in, drank a beer, and dropped into the bunk, grateful to be in bed, at last. Arose at  10AM and went out to find a grocery store.  Bought instant coffe (no other kind, really), cereal and milk.  Ate corn flakes! can't look another bread breakfast in the face!  Walked around town the rest of the day, down to the river where the boats are located that cart you across to Brasil.

There were quite afew backpackers hanging around, so I had friendly breakfast. And took off for the falls on the collectivo.  Simply a very amazing view of the park and falls!  Spectacular!  So, I spent the whole day walking the park, and decided to take advantage of the 2nd day discount the following day.

Big event!  My 65th birthday!  WOW!  Can't really believe that I was here and not another birthday in the Sr. Center in Palmyra!  Went back to the park, and on the monkey trail!  Saw a whole herd of monkies, actually 2 herds, flying thru the trees.  Quite a hike in and about.  Came back to hostel, showered, watched TV,  then gave my feet a healing rest!

I went to Consulate (Paraguay) for my visa, they can't issue one here!  I have to backtrack to Posadas to get it.

News from home! The stock market is looking bad, thank God I sold my house.  (Little did I know that later, I would REALLY be happy about selling my house!)

Met a friend from England, Julia, and we roamed around town; she had lost her debit card the night before while she had been drinking, so we kinda looked for it, but of course, not to be found.  So, she called and got her card cancelled.  We ate at my favorite restaurant, and she was off!  Another friend, traveling on his/her way.

I took a shopping trip, bought my black levi pants that I have almost worn out, some other stuff.  And then did a return trip to the falls for a 3rd time.  Well, had an outstanding day in the park.  The boat to the island wasn't running, which was a disappointment.

Off to backtrack to Posadas to get my visa!  Why Paraguay?  I couldn't tell you. Well, the reason, I think, if that all the guide books only give a few pages to Paraguay, and I thought ¨there has to be SOMETHING here¨.
