Where I stayed

we arrived here from hoi an..the bus was only 4 hrs but it seemed to go on forever...we found a nice place to stay and will be here for 2 days before we make the final push north to hanoi..

Hue is a former capital..it has a massive citadel that was used by the emperors of the day..it has some lovely grand buildings with pagodas and temples all built in a chinese style...we went for a walk around today...very impressive...especially when you consider that this city was virtually raised to the ground in the AMERICAN war....this was the site of some serious fighting...which seems strange considering its calm now....

its sooo damn hot ..i thought it was getting cooler as we go north but....at the moment its really hot..about 36 37 deg..so walking round all the temples in the midday sun is just for the stupid tourists...all the locals are asleep under a tree!!!

the town is set next to the perfume river...a very nice spot...cant say it smells of perfume..but its great to watch the sun go down over the city...

from here we are on the overnight train to hanoi....about 11hrs..an arrives at 4 in the morning!! happy days
