Here is an abreviated rating similar to the college ratings.
Stadium - Bank of America Stadium is a fairly new stadium, since it was built specifically for the Panthers, an NFL expansion team. They played their first year at Clemson University in 1995 while the stadium was being built, and they played their first season in 1996
The Game - This game was actually a bit of a stinker, unless you like defense. The Seattle defense was quite stiffling, as expected. What was surprising was how bad Cam Newton looked in this game. He was having a lot of trouble hitting his receivers, and it was hard to tell how much of this was due to the Seattle defense and how much of it was due to Cam Newton having a bad day. It was close at the end, as the Panthers were down 16-10 with the ball 4th and goal on the 1. Remember Cam Newton from last year? He would have simply reached the ball over the line for a touchdown. For some reason, they decided to have him roll out and throw a pass, which fell incomplete and effectively ended the Panthers' chance of winning the game. Rating - 5 of 10.
Fans - Apathy is probably a good way to describe it. Carolina was 1-3 going into the game, and it was a bit cold in the high 50s after being in the 80s the day before. Many fans simply didn't show up, as there were a lot of empty seats scattered throughout the stadium. The fans that did come were treated to a poor showing by the home team, and didn't have much to cheer about. They were nice to the Seahawks fans, though. Rating - 5 of 10
Best Player - This is a tough one, as nobody really stood out on either team
Overall - It's always nice to go to an NFL game now and then. Theoretically, the quality of football should be better, and deep down it was. On the surface, though, there seems to be more passion in the college game from both the players and the fans. We started out in the nosebleed section, but we were eyeing all those empty seats all during the first half. We snuck down closer to the field at halftime, and not only did we have a much better view, but it was quite a bit warmer to be out of the wind. Rating - 5 of 10
